QUESTION NO.21

QUESTION: Councillor B. Ferron

"To ask the Chief Executive to arrange  an inspection of the trees located at the side of 13 Bolbrook Park, these trees are a cause of anti-social behavior as people are climbing up on them and then on to the side wall of the persons house who is quite elderly. They are also blocking out the sun-light into the house. I would appreciate if these could be inspected by the Council with a view to having them removed. Could the CEO also if possible ask those inspecting the site to discuss the issues surrounding the trees with the tenant in question?"

REPLY:

The trees to the side of 13 Bolbrook Park have been inspected by staff from the Council's public realm maintenance section. A Council staff member called to the address in question at the time of inspection but the resident did not appear to be present on that occasion. The Council does not propose to remove the trees in question at this time as they were considered to be in a healthy condition when inspected. The trees have been recommended for pruning which will involve the removal of low level branches that may be facilitating climbing of the boundary wall. It is proposed to include this work as part of the 2015 tree maintenance programme. It is expected that the pruning when completed will deal with the resident's concern regarding people climbing the trees to gain access to the boundary wall of the property.
