QUESTION NO. 20

QUESTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the 2014 budget allocation for Tidy Towns in the SDCC and Clondalkin areas detailing; the total amount to be spent; the total amount to be spent in the Clondalkin LEA; the decision making process to determine how this money is spent; and detail of spending to date and decisions on spending to date.

REPLY:

The 2014 budget allocation for Tidy Towns is €60,000.

€1000 is to be allocated to each of the 9 towns and villages who have entered the 20l4 National Tidy towns competition.

A public meeting was arranged earlier this year in the Green Isle hotel, a visit to Tidy Towns groups in Drogheda and Malahide in February 2014 following discussions at the Tidy Towns network meeting. A further Tidy Towns network meeting has been arranged for Monday 13th October where it is proposed to examine the individual reports in conjunction with each group with a view to identifying measures which could be implemented with the support of this Council in 2015 to improve the respective performances in future years.

The remaining 2014 Tidy Towns budget will be discussed at the Network meeting with a view to project allocation funding.
