QUESTION NO. 14

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

To ask the Chief Executive if the Norwegian Maple trees outside (* Address supplied) can be removed?  While the trees are beautiful, they exude sap which covers cars, windows and paved areas.  The residents are prepared to pay for replacement trees of a different species, if necessary.

REPLY:

The Norway maple outside (* Address supplied) has been inspected and the tree is not considered to warrant removal.  The removal of a healthy tree will not normally be carried out except where the tree is damaged, dying or hazardous or in very close proximity to a public lighting column.  Tree works will not be carried out to address the natural and seasonal dropping of sap which is easily removed from surfaces with soap and water. The tree at this location is therefore not considered to require any tree maintenance work at this time.
