QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Chief Executive to provide details on how many people on the Council's housing list are registered in the area under the remit of this Committee (broken down by postcode); to ask if are there any active or proposed plans to build social housing in this area; if the Council is actively pursuing other social housing arrangements in this area, and to provide details of such; and to make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

There are currently 8,412 applications on the Council's Housing List, of these, 395 have addresses in the areas of Rathfarnham / Templeogue / Terenure.  While there is no current home building programmes planned in this area all Council land throughout the County is being critically examined with a view to it suitability for Housing.

As at 30/09/2014 out of 367 properties secured countywide under leasing, 17 are in the Rathfarnham/Templeogue-Terenure electoral area. At this point in time the Council is negotiating on a further four properties for securing under leasing arrangements.
