QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

To ask the Chief Executive if he would detail the procedures to be used by members of the public who wish to report blocked drains/sewerage problems and would he also confirm what agency now carries out such work?

REPLY:

Irish Water is the National Water Utility responsible for the delivery of water and wastewater services to customers in Ireland.

Queries/complaints about water and wastewater related matters including blocked drains/sewerage problems should be addressed to Irish Water by any of the following means:

Upon receipt, Irish Water will resolve the matter with the customer directly where possible and where required will issue a work order to the Local Authority to investigate and respond to Irish Water. After the Local Authority has carried out the work order requirement The Water Utility will then revert to the customer.
