MOTION NO. 11

MOTION: Councillor E. O'Brien

"That the Chief Executive undertakes a study of measures which can be implemented to deal with ongoing health and safety issues arising from illegal parking at Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada and St. Thomas's National School."

REPORT:

The Council have provided necessary road markings and parking restrictions at each of the schools. These measures include Zig Zag markings and double and single yellow lines signs which have been in place for some time. Illegal parking and the enforcement of these restrictions is a matter for the Garda Authorities. In addition the Council provides a school warden service during school times at St Tomas's and ramps and a pedestrian crossing has been provided at Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada.  In addition the Council has recently provided enhancements to the roundabouts at Griffeen Avenue  and Willsbrook Road. The Council will work with the Schools and Garda authorities and local residents to provide  a safe environment for school children.
