Two investigations were undertaken by the Planning Authority regarding possible endangerment of the Protected Structures at Weirview, Lucan.  Following investigations and a series of actions undertaken in respect of the complaints and the investigations, the issue of potential endangerment and unauthorised development was resolved and the complainants were informed accordingly.

Regarding a possible new Architectural Conservation Area to be introduced to include the 20 houses and their curtilage at Weirview, an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) Scoping Exercise for South Dublin County was carried out during May 2014.   This was done in order that new areas within the County could be identified for ACA inclusion under the County Development Plan review.  The Report also identified areas where revisions/extensions to the existing boundaries of current ACA’s could be recommended.  The addition of new Architectural Conservation Areas and revisions of existing ACA boundaries as per the recommendations provided in the scoping exercise will be assessed in accordance with the Architectural Heritage Protection Guidelines and under Part IV of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) as part of an overall review of Architectural Conservation Areas, the Record of Protected Structures,  and County’s historic built environment within the Development Plan process currently underway.
