QUESTION: Councillor R. Nolan

"To ask the Chief Executive would it be possible to paint the goal posts on the GAA pitches in Glenaulin Park, Palmerston as they have not been painted for decades?"

REPLY: 

The goal posts on the pitches in Glenaulin Park are currently in active use. In order to paint the posts they would need to be removed. This would effectively take the pitch out of use for a period of time and present a difficulty for clubs that are still in the playing season.

As some of the goal posts have been in situ for a long period of time it is proposed to commence a replacement programme on all posts which show signs of wear and tear. The replacement programme will commence in 2014 subject to the availability of funding and continue in 2015.
