MOTION NO.31

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

That this Council congratulates all Tidy Towns groups in the County on their performance in the 2014 competition; and requests the Chief Executive to arrange for a review of all individual adjudication reports, in conjunction with each local group, with a view to identifying measures which could be implemented by this Council in 2015 to support each group and to address issue identified in the adjudication reports; and to bring a report to the relevant Area Committee on such measures planned for 2015.

REPORT:

The Council is very proud of all the Tidy Towns groups in the county and congratulates each and every group on on their performance in the 2014 Competition.

There were three new entrants into the competition in 2014 (Newcstle Lyons, Old Bawn, and Woodstown Village) and these scored very well.

All existing entrants surpassed their 2013 score with increases in marks achieved by the various groups ranging from 2 to 30 marks.  This is a great achievement and reflects the significant work and commitment of the groups.

It is proposed to examine the individual reports in conjuction with each group with a view to identifying measures which could be implemented with the support of this Council in 2015 to improve the respective performances in future years.

It is also an objective of the Council to encourage additional new entries from Tidy Towns groups throughout the County into the competition, and would welcome support from the Elected Members of the Council in this regard.

The table hereunder is an outline of the 2014 marks achieved by the entrants.
