MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins
That this Council provides detailed information in relation to outstanding development levies owed to the County Council and reports on the plan for recovering monies owed or, where that is not possible, creating social dividend for the local community.
REPORT
Outstanding development levies owed to the Council are categorised under the headings of Commercial and Residential. Outstanding commercial levies amount to €14.1 million of which €3.6 million relates to completed developments. €1.5 million of this sum is in agreed phasing arrangements with the balance being pursued under enforcement proceedings and legal action.€3.8 million of commercial development levies relate to developments currently under construction and a figure of €4.2 million is in respect of completed but vacant developments. Residential development levies outstanding amount to €11.0 million, € 8.0 million of this will be collected under agreed phasing arrangements. An amount of €1.7 million relates to properties which are completed but vacant. 5% of the overall total relates to developments which are completed and occupied.
