QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
To ask for an update on all proposed playgrounds in SDCC, what are the costs of same? What funds are available? What locations have been agreed? What is schedule of work for same?
REPLY:
A total of 10 sites were included in the 2014 Play Space Programme. Two other sites at Hermitage Park in Lucan and Ballycragh Park in Firhouse were separately funded by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. One site at Tymon Park is separately funded through the Council’s Capital Programme.
9 locations have been agreed and have gone to tender. There are 4 sites where it has not been possible to reach agreement on to date
In order to expedite the 2015 programme some preliminary consultation has already taken place, and it is intended to resume this process in November 2014.
The complete Five Year Programme is attached for the information of the Elected Members which envisaged providing 60 play spaces in total at a cost of €750,000 per annum over 5 years.
