QUESTION NO.18

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

To ask the Chief Executive what can be done to improve the safety of pedestrians who use the pedestrian crossing at Tesco on Convent Road, Clondalkin?  There is a road sign obscuring the orange light for drivers who are coming from Boot road direction.  The crossing is not raised like the newer one on New Road.  Addressing these issues might improve the situation.  There have been near misses at this location on an ongoing basis.

REPLY:

The zebra crossing will be inspected to ensure the beacons are not obstructed and that full visibility is maintained. The issue of drivers failing to yield to pedestrians intending to cross has been forwarded to An Garda Síochána for their attention.
