QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny

To ask the Chief Executive how many horses have been impounded in the Clondalkin area over the summer period from April 1st to September 1st and at what cost thus far has this surmounted to from the period stated?

REPLY:

The Contractor engaged by South Dublin County Council for the provision and operation of the horse seizure service and horse pound facility has seized a total of 88 horses in the Clondalkin electoral area during the period 1st April 2014 – 31st August 2014 inclusive. 

It is not possible to provide a breakdown of the costs of the service on an electoral area basis. However the total cost of the horse seizure service and horse pound facility for the same period for the County at large amounted to €113,713.65.
