b) Appointment of Chairperson to Local Traveller Accommodation Committee (LTACC) (Cllr. G. O'Connell)

REPLY:

The following report was circulated at the September 2014 OP&F Meeting:

"The Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee was established by the Council in 1999 under the provisions of S21 of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998.

S22 of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998 specifies that an appointing authority shall appoint a Chairperson.

At the July meeting of South Dublin County Council the Members AGREED that the following Members be appointed to the Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee:

Councillor J. Lahart (Fianna Fáil Rathfarnham)

Councillor K. Egan (Fine Gael Clondalkin)

Councillor G. O’Connell (Ind. Lucan)

Councillor J. Graham (Sinn Féin Clondalkin)

Councillor L. Dunne (Sinn Féin Tallaght South)

Councillor M. Murphy (Anti-Austerity Alliance Tallaght Central)

It is a matter for the Council to appoint a Chairperson to the Committee from among its members. This is now before the Members for consideration."   End of report to OPF

It was proposed by Councillor D. Looney, seconded by Councillor P. Gogarty and AGREED:

“That Councillor G. O'Connell be recommended for appointment to the position of Chairperson of the Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee.”

This matter is now before the Council for approval.
