QUESTION NO. 13

QUESTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

To ask the Chief Executive to provide a report detailing actions taken by the Council following the Newcastle Lyons/Ballynakelly Lyons residents deputation earlier this year and a time line for implementing the various requests made by the residents during the deputation?

REPLY:

Actions:

In conjunction with the consultants for the Liquidator we identified areas that we could provide additional temporary car parking. This report is confined to Taking In Charge only.

We agreed a schedule of TIC works which are presently underway.

We keep Lisa Duggan of the residents association informed on any developments.

We expect all these works to be complete by the end of December 2014.

Wider community issues or questions should be directed to the individual departments.

A final meeting was held with the Receiver in relation to the proposed traveller development at this location.  The receiver indicated that they were not prepared to make the 10 housing units available to the Council due to overprovision of their part 5 obligation in the developed area as well as the cost of bringing the 10 partially completed units to a habitable condition for the Council.

Estate Management team made contact with the Residents Association in relation to the vacant units nearby and other issues raised.  They provided them with advice and contact details for themselves as well as the community Gardai
