QUESTION NO.31
QUESTION: Councillor Brendan Ferron
"To ask the Chief Executive if he will give a report outlining the possibility of providing a public Taxi Rank at the Square Tallaght to service the Luas stop. The Tallaght area does not have a public Taxi rank at present and I have been contacted by constituents asking that one be provided in the area. If it is not viable at this time can the Chief Executive please let the members know if such a rank can be included in the plans for the extension of the Square Shopping Centre as a public amenity controlled by the Council?"
REPLY:
The Council does not have capacity to provide a Public Taxi Rank at the Square as the shopping centre is on private property. However the Council has plans for the provision of such a rank in close proximity to the Luas stop subject to land being available and a funding source being identified. It should be noted that plans for the redevelopment of the Square Shopping Centre are currently on appeal to An Bord Pleanala and the provision of such a taxi rank should become clearer as a decision is made on the appeal.
