QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

"To ask the Chief Executive for a list of homes that SDCC hold free title within the Balrothery Estate?"

REPLY:

The Council holds the freehold title to a total of 57 properties at Balrothery Estate, Tallaght, which were built and sold in the 1970's under the Small Builders Scheme. The houses were sold by way of lease as was common-place at the time and are subject to a yearly ground rent of €19.04.

The Lessees are notified bi-annually of the process to purchase the fee simple from the Council including an estimate of the cost of purchase. It is not considered appropriate to issue details of the individual houses involved as this could have Data Protection legislation implications.
