MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor A-M. Dermody

"That this Council write to the Chief Executive of Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council asking that it be agreed that a restriction be placed on the number of concerts in Marley Park each year, there being eight concerts held in Marley Park this summer.

To ask Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Council to confirm the profit received from hosting such events and that a certain percentage of that profit ought to be given to South Dublin Council for spending within the Rathfarnham Area to compensate locals for the inconvenience they suffer as a result of such concerts.

In addition that Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council would notify this Council once an application to host is received and once permission to host is granted that a minimum notice as to such events be agreed between the parties."

REPORT:

The Draft Licence for the concerts in 2014 was referred to South Dublin County Council by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for observation.

On the basis of the experience of the concerts in 2014 South Dublin County Council will make it clear to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council the concerns of the Council and request that these concerns be addressed in any future licence.
