QUESTION NO. 30
QUESTION: Councillor Ronan McMahon
"To ask the Chief Executive if there are any plans to stop or prevent persistent drivers doing an illegal U turn at the junction of Springfield Road off Templeogue Road, and also can any traffic calming measures be put in place where cars continue down Springfield Road to do their turn at excessive speed for a residential road?"
REPLY:
No-U-turn signs are provided at the entrance to Springfield Road. It is not possible to prohibit traffic turning on a two-way residential street as the normal use of this cul-de-sac requires all traffic, residents and their visitors included, to turn around to exit the road. The issue of speeding will be referred to An Garda Síochána. Traffic calming is not considered appropriate as this road is a short cul-de-sac.
