MOTION NO. 10

MOTION: Councillor Charlie O'Connor

That the Tallaght Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to carry out an immediate and detailed examination of the junction at Belgard Road where the Luas crosses, noting that the Luas representatives recently reported to the Luas/Dublin Bus community forum that there are serious problems at the junction with motorists breaking the lights, a concern also shared by Dublin Bus and will he confirm actions opened to him

REPORT:

The Council have examined the operation of the junction and are satisfied that it is operating in a manner consistent with optimum traffic flow. It has been approved by the RPA and the railway safety inspectorate. There have been repeated inspections none of which have revealed any engineering deficiencies. Accordingly there are no engineering solutions to this unacceptable driver behaviour. The matter will be brought to the attention of the Garda authorities who have responsibility in this area.
