QUESTION NO. 14
QUESTION: Councillor Ronan McMahon
"To ask the Chief Executive if the cause of flooding on Wainsfort Drive and also at the end of Fortfield Road (KCR end) was ever discovered and what, if any, steps have been taken by the Council to prevent this from recurring?"
REPLY:
The last flooding incident we had in this area was back in October 2011 and was caused by an extreme rainfall event, over 90mm of rain per hour which caused the Poddle Stream to burst its banks. Since then we have dredged and cleared the Poddle from Tymon Park to the culvert at Kimmage Road West. We have upgraded the protective screens on the culverts to be more hydraulically efficient in preventing blockages and installed CCTV and flood alarms in Wainsfort Manor and Kimmage Manor.
