QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny
To ask the Chief Executive, since June 2013 what has been the expenditure on the provision of impounding horses in this local Authority. How many were impounded. How many horses were rehomed and destroyed since this date?
REPLY:
The Contractor engaged by South Dublin County Council for the provision and operation of horse seizure service and horse pound facility have seized a total of 402 horses, rehomed 20 horses and euthanized a further 350 horses since 1st June 2013 to 30th June 2014 in the Council's administrative area.
The cost of provision of this service from 1st June 2013 to the 31st May 2014 was €308,698.82.
