QUESTION NO.7
QUESTION: Councillor Paul Foley
To ask the Chief Executive can details be provided of all EU grants applied for by South Dublin County Council - if any - over the last 5 years and whether each application was successful or not?
REPLY:
South Dublin successfully applied for inclusion as a partner country in the RITS-Net project [Regions for Intelligent Transport Systems] in 2011. This initiative stemmed from the ITS Directive (Dir 2010/40/EU) on the framework for the development of ITS in the field of road transport and for interfaces with other modes of transport and with the ITS action plan for urban mobility [Action Plan for the Deployment of ITS in Europe, COM(2008)886]. Grant funding to the value of €118,000 is provided for. The project is due to conclude at the end of this year.
The Community Services Department made a number of enquiries and applications for funding under the Ireland Wales Co-operation Programme 2007 - 13, which had a focus on innovation, climate change and the utilisation of national and cultural resources and heritage, without success. A new programme covering the period from 2014 to 2020 is at present being developed to address shared economic, environmental and social challenges across the maritime border between Ireland and Wales and opportunities to seek funding will be advanced as they develop.
