APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE CAPITAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME FROM NORTH AND EAST HOUSING ASSOCIATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6 OF THE HOUSING (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT, 1992 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A PROPERTY AT THE SERVITE PRIORY, KILTIPPER ROAD, TALLAGHT, DUBLIN 24

On 24th January 2014, the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government advised all Local Authorities by Circular Housing 5/2014 of its intention to progress a limited programme of acquisitions to be funded from within the overall 2014-2016 capital funding provision for the Capital Assistance Scheme (CAS).
Local Authorities were requested to prioritise those CAS proposals which will:
In response to the Department’s Circular, an application has been received from North & East Housing Association for a grant in the sum of €380,700 under the Capital Assistance Scheme in respect of the purchase of a property at The Servite Priory, Kiltipper Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24. The Association is an approved Voluntary Body under Section 5 of the Housing Act, 1988.
The Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government, by letter dated the 23rd of May 2014 approved a grant in the sum of €380,700 to North & East Housing Association.
The development will be used to house residents from Our Lady of Good Counsel Centre in Ballyboden, this will enable them to live with some form of independence and to become active members in the community. The centre will have support staff resident in the development and the planned adaption works to the development will meet the housing needs of the residents. The cost of the adaption works is included in the allocation of €380,700.
Under Section 6 (8) of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 the granting of assistance under the Capital Assistance Scheme is a reserved function of the Council and is subject to the approval of the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government.
Accordingly, the following motion is required:
“That this Council recommends that the application for a grant in the sum of €380,700 under the Capital Assistance Scheme to North & East Housing Association for the purchase of a property at The Servite Priory, Kiltipper Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 in accordance with the requirements of Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous) Act, 1992 be approved”.
