QUESTION NO.3

QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

To ask the Chief Executive, given the ongoing problems caused by assorted vehicles parking on grass verges within residential estates Countywide, can the CE devise effective (aesthetic) deterrents at problematic locations?

REPLY:

The problem of vehicles parking on grass verges within residential estates throughout the County is acknowledged.

Parking on the grass verge is an offence under Section 36(i) of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 as amended by Article 16(m) of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking)(Amendment) No. 2 Regulations 2012. Enforcement of these regulations is a matter for the Gardai.

If the Councillor has a specific location(s) in mind, an inspection will be arranged.
