QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
To ask the Chief Executive for an update on funding and spending for 2014 for housing adaptation grants (HAGS/MAGS/HOPS) and the tenant disabled persons grants, and to make a statement on the continuation of such schemes for the remainder of 2014 and into the future?
REPLY:
The Department of Environment, Community & Local Government notified SDCC by letter dated the 16th January, 2014, of a capital grant allocation in the sum of €1,667,043 in respect of the following private housing grants:
Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability – HAGS;
Mobility Aids Housing Grant – MAGS;
Housing Aid for Older People – HOPS.
80% (€1,333,634) of this allocation is recoupable from the Department with the balance (€333,409) funded from the Council's revenue resources).Expenditure including commitments in respect of approved applications as at 30th June, 2014 is €931,779.38 and it is anticipated that we will have adequate funding for 2014. The 2015 allocation will be determined the DOECLG early next year.
In relation to South Dublin County Council Tenant Disabled Persons applications, this scheme is funded 100% from South Dublin County Council’s own resources. The Internal Capital Receipts allocation for 2014 including extension is €334,545.44
Expenditure including commitments as at 30th June, 2014 is €282,813.42
