QUESTION NO.12
QUESTION: Councillor Martina Genockey
To ask the Chief Executive for a timeline on the completion of work to refurbish 44 vacant houses in the area, for which funding was approved earlier this year, in order to make these units available to people on the waiting list and to continue the council’s good record of having one of the lowest rates of vacant houses of any local authority in Ireland.
REPLY:
The Council received notification of funding for the refurbishment of 40 vacant houses on the 28th April 2014. Since then 33 of these have been completed and allocated to tenants. 4 others are on site and will be completed shortly. Plans are being prepared for the remaining 3 dwellings as they require substantial refurbishment in order to bring them up to a liveable standard.
