QUESTION NO.9
QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
"To ask the Manager to respond to the submission from Tallaght Community Council regarding the cycle/pedestrian route in Dodder Valley Park, and to make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
A response has issued to the letter received on 3rd April in respect of the above. The upgraded cycle track and new bridges in the Dodder Valley Park were subject to a formal 'Part 8' public consultation and Council approval process in 2012, as part of the Tallaght to Ballyboden Strategic Cycle Route Project. Further to a period of public consultation in Autumn 2012, the County Council approved the Project in December 2012. Detailed design of this element of the Project was completed, works were tendered and a construction contract awarded in 2013. National Transport Authority (NTA) funding has been secured to deliver the Project in 2014. The Project includes the provision of public lighting and CCTV within the Park on both the Tallaght and Firhouse sides of the Dodder and two new bridges linking both. Entrance treatments are the same on both the Tallaght (Old Bawn and Avonmore) and Firhouse sides of the route and are intended to ensure ease of access for cyclists, pedestrians and disabled persons whilst deterring anti-social activity.
