QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager for an updated report on the recruitment by the Council of participants in the Gateway programme, and if he can advise on the training that is being provided to participants?
REPLY:
The Council aims to match the participant's skill level with available opportunities within the organisation. While it is anticipated substantial numbers will be assigned to the work areas listed below, there may be some assigned to internal office or project type work.
Key Areas of Work for participants identified to date:
· Environmental services - maintenance and development of industrial estates and public open spaces which will include general cleaning, litter picking, weeding, graffiti removal
· Derelict site clean ups
· Village Enhancement Schemes - remediation and restoration works
· Landscaping
· Estate improvements
The training provided will be a combination of Induction Training, Statutory Training such as Health and Safety training where relevant, and on-the-job training from Supervisors and colleagues.
