MOTION NO.3
MOTION: Councillor C. Bond
That this Council restore the pedestrian crossing point on the Ballycullen Road at Woodstown Shopping Centre. The Council will also examine the possibility of removing or reducing plants on the roundabout at that location as it is obstructing the vision of motorists.
REPORT:
All previous crossing points were retained or reinstated following the construction of the Ballycullen QBC between Woodstown and St Colmcille's Way.
Visibility at the Woodstown roundabout as with all roundabouts requires vehicles to see and give way to other vehicles circulating on the roundabout and discern if the vehicle on the roundabout is about to exit or continue across a vehicle waiting to enter the roundabout. Planting on the roundabout is well maintained. The planting at this location also discourages high speed traffic by providing a visual break along the roadway.
It is proposed to arrange a joint inspection shortly between the traffic section and public realm to establish if further pruning works are required at this roundabout.
