QUESTION NO.5
QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff
"To ask the Manager for a report regarding the illegal signage advertising businesses in the complex across the road from the Belgard Luas stop and from the fence adjacent to the platform at the rear of the stop, and to indicate what if any enforcement has taken place to remove these signs?"
REPLY:
The complex referred to is known as Cookstown Enterprise Park which is privately owned.
The Litter Warden carried out an inspection on 23rd April 2014 of the reported signage which is erected on the fencing of the complex and called to all three businesses who have signage displayed and was assured that they have permission from the owner of the complex to display these signs, which is provided for under Section 19 (1) ( a) of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended.
The Litter Warden issued a verbal warning to one of the businesses for the displaying of signage on the public footpath. The area will be monitored by the Litter Warden and appropriate enforcement action will be taken where any breaches of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, occur.
