MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

HEADED ITEM NO. 10

LANEWAY TO THE REAR OF WHEATFIELD ROAD

The issue of dumping in the laneway between Wheatfield Road and Oakcourt, Palmerston has been discussed at a number of recent meetings of the Lucan Area Committee and also at several Traffic Management Meetings.

The incidence of dumping occurs along the laneway but is more acute to the rear of houses 1-31 odd Wheatfield Road as cars access the laneway just after the Silver Granite and are able to exit the laneway further down.

A number of residents of both Wheatfield Road and Oakcourt Grove whose houses back on to this laneway, have submitted a petition requesting the provision of lockable bollards at the top end of the laneway to the rear of 1 Wheatfield Road to prevent vehicular access to the laneway for the purposes of dumping.

If the Committee agree, lockable bollards will be installed at the top end of the laneway to the rear of 1 Wheatfield Road as shown on the attached drawing under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 and their effectiveness could be reviewed after a period of 6 months.
