COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Monday, April 28, 2014
MOTION NO. 2
MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the Manager to arrange for an immediate 'crack-down' on illegal dumping in Kiltalown Estate as those carrying out this significant anti-Community activity is destroying Community Morale and destroying the look and the reputation of the Estate".
REPORT:
The Council is committed to enforcement of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, in relation to illegal dumping, wheresoever it is identified.
The Enforcement and Licensing Section has received fifteen complaints of illegal dumping/littering in Kiltalown Estate to date in 2014. All reports of illegal dumping and littering have been investigated by the Council's Litter Warden Service and dumped material interrogated for evidence, resulting in the issuing of three (3) fines to alleged polluters.
Where there is an on going problem of illegal dumping and littering in any area, local residents are urged to support the Council in taking the appropriate enforcement action by making reports to the Litter Warden for investigation and by providing evidence where possible and testifying in court, if necessary.
Members of the public can make reports to the Litter Warden via the Customer Care Contact System, Fix Your Street or by phoning 4149220.
