COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, April 22, 2014
MOTION NO. 2
MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
"That this Area Committee calls on the Manager to commit to funding the provision of a multi-purpose Community Facility for Lucan & Adamstown as soon as possible."
REPORT:
The Amended Adamstown SDZ Scheme now provides for the provision of 1 no. community centre (1200sq.m.) in phase 2 (up to 1,600 units) including community sports hall or provision of 600sq m community centre and additional, separate school sports hall in phase 2 with additional 600sq m community centre in phase 9. There are currently approximately 1,200 residential units occupied in Adamstown.
The Amended Planning Scheme is currently subject to Appeal to An Bord Pleanala. A decision is expected by late Summer 2014. The decision of An Bord Pleanala will assist in providing clarity in respect of what will be required and at what stage and may inform any future funding decisions of the Council.
Notwithstanding the above, South Dublin County Council as the Development Agency for Adamstown continues to work with all parties, including the landowners, to facilitate the delivery of community facilities in the Adamstown area at the earliest opportunity
