MOTION NO.7

MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon

That, having regard to ongoing anti-social activities in Dodder Park (adjacent to New Bawn Park) impacting adversely of nearby residents, appropriate action be taken, including

Cut back shrubbery at ESB sub-station and have dressing rooms painted

Regular patrols by park wardens

Liaison with Gardai so as to provide visible presence, particularly at weekends

REPORT:

The Council is aware that anti-social activity is currently taking place in the vicinity of the ESB substation/changing rooms in the Dodder Valley Park close to New Bawn Park. In this regard a contractor has recently been appointed to erect railings around the site of the dressing rooms which will prevent unsightly graffiti being applied to the dressing rooms in the future. The cutting back of vegetation in the vicinity of the substation will also be carried out in conjunction with this work. The Council will also liaise with the Gardai regarding increased weekend patrols in this area and arrangements will be made for more frequent patrols by the Park Rangers on weekdays.
