MOTION No. 7

RATHFARNHAM VILLAGE - PARKING PROBLEMS

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager move immediately to take all measures to alleviate traffic parking problems being experienced in Rathfarnham Village and for the Manager to engage directly with Duchas to immediately have the Rathfarnham Castle car park opened for public car parking."

REPORT:

The tendering process is about to commence for the operation of the Control of Parking Bye Laws. It is intended to commence Pay and Display parking in Rathfarnham Village early in the new year. The car park at Rathfarnham Castle is included in the Bye Laws as it has a history of all day parking. Consequently it is unlikely to add significantly to the parking provided and subsequently unlikely to ease the parking in Rathfarnham Village prior to pay and display parking commencing.

Current parking restrictions permit one hour parking on the Main Street.  Enforcement of the regulations will be brought to the attention of the Garda Siochana in the run up to Christmas.
