Cathaoirleach's Business:
That this Committee be updated on the progress of the regulations which will encourage shopowners to keep the area in front of their premises clean. When will the regulations come into operation, how will business owners in the Clondalkin area be notified of their responsibilities and how will the regulations be enforced.
REPORT:
The Bye Laws for the prevention and Control of Litter 2013 came into force on 14th October 2013. The Council is currently preparing an information leaflet for businesses outlining their responsibilities under the Anti -Litter Bye Laws. Each of the business organisation,trader groups and retail centres will be contacted to ensure that they are aware of their obligations. This will be done in conjunction with a communication programme for Council enforcement staff. The public will be informed through various media including social media outlets. This will commence in the second quarter of this year.
