To compliment Management and the staff involved in organising the Children Play Space across the County and to request an update on progress to date?
REPLY:
The Five Year Play Space Programme includes proposals for the provision of play spaces at the following locations throughout South Dublin. In order to advance the programme for 2014 a series of consultation meetings have taken place throughout the county. The consultation process has been organised in the following format:
· initial scoping exercise with key local parties including, inter alia, community groups, schools, Comhairle na nÓg, community garden groups, etc., to determine local opportunities and constraints in relation to the plans for particular local areas.
· the development of outline sketch proposals based on the sites identified and communicating these to the local groups
· evening open consultation meetings with local groups and to which the Elected Members are also invited.
This iterative process has worked well and has allowed for the majority of the identified areas to be supported locally. In areas where support is not forthcoming - for various local reasons - the next identified locations in the programme for the area concerned are then considered through the iterative process outlined above.
As soon as all of the locations have been through this process - and it is expected that this process will conclude shortly - a report will brought to the Council outlining the outcome. In parallel with this process, tendering documentation is being arranged to allow the Council to proceed to the pubic procurement phase and to allow for the construction phase to commence as soon as possible.
