QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"To ask the Manager for an update on the cleaning of Tandy's Lane and to indicate in the reply what arrangements have been put in place to maintain it to a satisfactory standard?"

REPLY:

Staff working on Tandy's Lane are exposed to an increased occupational risk due to the narrow nature of the lane and number of bends present.  For this reason works have been limited to locations on the lane where material can be safely removed until such time when an appropriate traffic management plan for cleaning the entire lane could be prepared in consultation with the Councils Safety Officer.

It is now proposed to trial the new traffic management plan over a section of the lane and commence cleaning works in April.  A full cleanup of the lane will be rolled out following a review of the successfulness of the trial.
