MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner

Cathaoirleach's Business

That the Manager give an update on the plans for watering of flower beds in the Clondalkin area during the Summer season. What planting will be included in the watering contract? In order to supplement this, can access be given to water by the Tidy Towns at the council offices so that members don't have to draw water from the Camac or use water from their own homes.

REPORT:

A tender is currently being prepared for the planting, fitting and maintenance of 25 double hanging baskets for Clondalkin Village.  The maintenance will include the watering of all baskets.  It is proposed to include the watering of the planters in front of the Civic Offices and at various locations throughout the village as an additional part of the tender.

Following discussions with members of the Tidy Towns Committee, options to reduce the amount of bedding used in the village and subsequent dependency on watering, are currently being explored.

The Council is examining the option of the feasibility of locating a large water butt at the rear of the Civic offices and discussing this option with the members of Committee.
