QUESTION NO. 11
QUESTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin
To ask the Manager to provide an update on the consultation with local communities and community groups in advance of the provision of the play spaces in Knockmitten and Rathcoole parks?
REPLY:
The consultation process for the development of the Five Year Play Spaces programme involves an initial discussion with the local key players in the community and the identification of the groups that should be circulated with a consultation meeting agenda. This process also helps in the identification of key issues impacting on the implementation of the plans. When this element has been completed a meeting date is agreed and a meeting request and agenda circulated to all of the interested groups. All of the Councillors are also circulated with the meeting date and location details.
A preliminary scoping exercise was undertaken with the Knockmitten Community Centre Management in February as a preparatory step for the public consultation meeting which is being arranged at present. Notice of the details of this consultation will be circulated to the Members when confirmed.
The date for the Rathcoole consultation is still under discussion but is now likely to be on the 25th March 2014. When the date is confirmed, notice of the details will also be circulated to the Members.
