QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner
To ask the Manager to arrange a major clean up of the Camac river bed in the Clondalkin Park region (community centre) from the Fonthill Road to the Old Nangor Road bridge asap in preparation for the adjudication for the Tidy Towns Competition.
REPLY:
Staff working in the vicinity of water courses are exposed to an increased occupational risk due to the presence of a water hazard. For this reason works in such locations are generally undertaken during the summer months when water levels are at their lowest and the associated risk is reduced.
Having reviewed the condition of the Camac River arrangements will be made to remove large items of debris eg. shopping trolleys in the short term where it is safe to do so. The Water & Drainage Section will be consulted in relation to the general cleanliness of the River with a view to implementing a system whereby other items of debris can be safely removed.
