Wednesday, March 19, 2014

MOTION NO. 6

MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

This Committee agrees that the Manager should bring a report for discussion at the Committee on the window and door replacement programme for the Clondalkin LEA in 2014 entailing the amount of money to be spent in the LEA this year, the number of units that can expect to have doors and/or windows replaced and the schedule of works completed to date in 2014 and expected to be undertaken for the remainder of the year

REPORT:

The window replacement programme commenced in 2010 and since that time 718 houses countywide have had windows/doors replaced.  259 or 36% of these replacements were in the Clondalkin area.  The budget for the 2014 programme is €950,000 and the anticipated number of completions would be in the region of 160 countywide.  Currently there are 23 houses with the window contractor for replacement and 13 of these are in the Clondalkin Area.

Countywide there are 760 houses with windows graded 5 and in need of replacement.   278 of these are in the Clondalkin area.

It should be noted that the list is live and added to each year through tenant contact.  The programme is operated by date of application, the rent account being in order i.e. either clear or tenant  adhering to an official arrangement for a minimum period of 6 months and having no anti social issues.   Priority is also given to applicants with serious medical conditions.  The Council is currently working on windows that were applied for and graded in 2010.
