QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody
"To ask the Manager to arrange to have the litter warden inspect the green space off Marian Grove, there are reports of illegal dumping in the trees within this space. Could the Manager arrange for this space to be cleaned up and also if no dog fouling signings could be erected in a number of prominent places in this area?"
REPLY:
The Council received a complaint from a member of the public in relation to the illegal dumping on the green area at Marian Grove and Butterfield Close. The Litter Warden carried out an inspection of the area and located the reported dumped material. The Litter Warden interrogated the dumped material and found two pieces of evidence amongst the waste. Two litter fines were issued in accordance with the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, to the alleged polluters. Arrangements will be made to clean up the open space in question with the next two weeks.
The Council is promoting responsible dog ownership through the Green Dog Walkers scheme, where individuals clean up after their dog and encourages others to do likewise. Information in relation to this scheme is available on www.socialcredits.ie
