QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody

"To ask the Manager to assess Ballyboden Road as a suitable location for the inclusion of ramps with residents complaining about the high number of cars travelling at speed along this road.  Is it possible also to put pedestrian lights between the tuning fork junction and Ballyroan/Glendoher  junction to facilitate children cutting across from Fonthill through Willbowbank.  This could be part funded through the pilot schools programme recently presented to Councillors?"

REPLY:

Ballyboden Road is a regional road and is not suitable for ramps. Traffic using this route should not be encouraged to divert onto other roads. The concerns in relation to traffic speed will be brought to the attention of An Garda Síochána. The provision of a crossing will be studied however previous studies have shown a low demand.
