QUESTION NO. 15

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"To ask the Manager for a report on the cleaning schedule for Palmerston Village, Upper Kennelsfort Road and Manor Road and to please explain why these areas have been neglected in recent months?"

REPLY:

The Green Machine operative for the Palmerston Area was absent from work for a number of weeks in December due to illness.  The operative has since retired from the Council.  The deployment of staff within the Public Realm Section is currently being examined with a view to fulfilling the duties undertaken by the Green Machine operative.  The current schedule for the three areas ensures that each location is visited on a least one day each week.  A review of arrangements as part of the preparation of Village Plans and Village Works Programmes is currently taking place.

It is hoped to have the matter resolved shortly and be in a position to provide an appropriate level of service to ensure that Palmerston Village, Upper Kennelsfort Road and Manor Road are kept clean.
