MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Councillor C. King

"That this Committee call on the Manager to provide an update on the provision of the new school Building for Scoil Cáitlín Maude at Killinarden Hill since our disposal of the land to the Dept of Education and Skills in January this year. That the Manager include in the report any dates of commencement and completion of the build that he is aware of at this stage and any proposed approximate date for the long awaited and anticipated opening of the new school building".

REPORT:

The Council at its meeting held on 13/1/2014 approved the disposal of a site at Killinarden, adjacent to Hazelgrove Estate, to the Minister for Education and Skills to provide new school accommodation. The Council's Law Agent has been instructed to proceed with the transfer of title. In the meantime, a letter of consent has been issued to the Department of Education and Skills to allow them/their agents to enter on site to conduct site surveys and investigations necessary to prepare plans for the development of the site.

An update in relation to progress in the matter, timescales for commencement of the development etc is awaited from the Department.
