MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

"That the Manager will consult with Castlethorn and the schools in Adamstown in order to find a solution to parking in residential parking bays at school times."

REPORT:

Mobility Management Plans were put in place for each of the schools in Adamstown during the planning application process. The purpose of these plans was to maximise the opportunity for safe cycle, pedestrian and public transport access to and from all schools. The issue of parking and drop- off arrangements and any impact on residential spaces is a matter for the school community.

Adamstown Community College, St. John the Evangelist N.S, Adamstown Educate Together N.S between them, have a total of 90 shared drop-off spaces. These are located as follows;

Esker Educate Together N.S (Temporary School) utilises drop- off space at Adamstown Park.

 Adamstown Community College, in their in house developed Mobility Management Plan undertook to appoint a school mobility officer whose role was to develop, implement, monitor and review the school travel plan.

 As has been the case in the past the Planning Department will continue to liaise with the schools and residents on mobility issues. Where schools and /or residents are encountering mobility issues such as parking in designated residential areas, staff from the Adamstown Team will liaise directly with the schools in the context of their mobility management plans to help address the problem. The team will contact the schools directly in order to address this issue.
