MOTION NO. 12
MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
"That this Committee compliments the Manager and the Librarian, Lucan for arranging to have the Mobile IT Training Unit deliver IT training in Palmerstown Shopping Centre, under the Digitise the Nation initiative, and requests the Manager to advise how many places will be available and how the training opportunity will be promoted in Palmerston."
REPORT:
The Digitise the Nation training delivers 8 hours of IT training to all participants over a four week period. Each session can accommodate 10 people and so in total 40 places are available.
The initiative will be advertised in the local parish and community centre, Supervalu, Lucan library and Stewarts library - (see attached flyer/poster). An advertisement will be placed in the local parish newsletter and details will be put up on South Dublin Libraries website.
Students wishing to book can phone Lucan library and the library will manage the booking sheets and forward the details to Digitise the Nation. To avail of a place, all that is required is a name and phone number.
Lucan Library is currently liaising with the management company in the shopping centre in Palmerston to ensure that they can accommodate the classes.
