MOTION NO. 9

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

"That the Manager with regard to Gateways Initiative outline the possibilities of benefits to Lucan Village and Palmerston Village and the rest of the Electoral Area."

REPORT:

The work to be undertaken under the Gateway Initiative will be primarily focused on outdoor work, but all areas of the Council's activities will be considered.  The Council will aim to match the participants skill level with available opportunities although this cannot be guaranteed in all cases.

The types of projects the Council hope to achieve include the following:

·         Environmental services – maintenance and development of industrial estates and public open spaces which will include general cleaning, litter picking, weeding, graffiti   removal

·         Derelict site clean ups

·         Village Enhancement Schemes – remediation and restoration works

·         Landscaping

·         Estate improvements
